Help us share a welcoming word to this important ministry of the Church!

We are so pleased to announce that word was released today that the Disciples of Christ Historical Society, currently of Nashville, will be relocating to Bethany College very soon.  This is great news for the whole church, and we of the West Virginia Region have great cause to celebrate with our friends in the Bethany community.  We look forward to the coming days and to sharing our hospitality with all.

Tad Fitzsimmons Internship Open for 2015

2015 Tad Fitzsimmons Youth Ministry Internship

The 2015 Tad Fitzsimmons Youth Ministry Intern will serve on the staff of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in West Virginia for a minimum of one and up to three weeks surrounding our camps/conference season (June 9-14 for camps, July 12-18 for conference), with starting and ending dates being somewhat negotiable.

The intern will serve on the staff of one or more of the events, and be supervised by the directors of each respective event in conjunction with an Associate Regional Minister for Youth and Young Adult Ministries.

All room and board will be provided and the position will carry with it a $250.00 per-week stipend. All travel costs will be covered. The intern will be expected to participate fully in each event, through the sharing of his or her gifts for ministry with the event and the participants.

Following the internship the intern shall provide a narrative of his or her learning experiences to the Associate Regional Ministers for Youth and Young Adult Ministries, and shall schedule time to discuss the experience with them and with other Regional Staff.

The position will be shaped by the intern’s particular strengths and by the event’s needs. It is anticipated that the position will “play into” the intern’s particular gifts and graces.

The intern must be a high-school graduate, and an active member of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). Preference will be given to those considering ministry as a vocation.

To apply provide a letter indicating your interest, your concept of youth ministry and the value of church camps and conferences. Please limit this to two (2) pages, double-spaced. Also, please provide three (3) letters of recommendation, one of which must be from your minister.

Applications and letters of recommendation need to be submitted by April 15, 2015 to both of the following staff members:

Rev. Kevin Snow (ksnow@wvdisciples.org)

and

Rev. Kenneth Hardway (khardway@wvdisciples.org)

We are grateful to the many who have contributed to the Tad Fitzsimmons Fund for Youth Ministry of the Christian Church in West Virginia, which helps provide for this important work of the church.
