Indeed, we all exert influence and engage in persuasion daily. But do we do so ethically? Do we step back when we should step forward? Do we abuse our influence and power? How can we know that our use of influence and power are for the good of the Kingdom and not the good of ourselves or our narrow constituency? Come and explore the ethics of influence and power.

Ravenswood FCC Ends Well On Sunday, Feb. 5, the congregation of First Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in Ravenswood concluded their residence at 105 Gallatin St. with a service of thanksgiving, led by the Regional Minister.   The congregation has planned well for the ongoing mission of the church, working with the Region and the Christian Church Foundation to create a Last Will and Testament, which is now being executed, and a Legacy Fund with the Foundation.  Great care is being given to attend to the ongoing care of our members in the area by the Regional Church, which is also working to help them carry forth their desires that the congregation’s resources might be a blessing to the Region, Week of Compassion, and the local food bank.
To lift up the life of this wonderful congregation, an All Saints Fund has been created in its honor.  You may give directly to it by sending a check in any amount, or by visiting this link.  God is ever faithful, and the faithfulness of the Ravenswood Disciples will continue to bless the world with God’s good news.

Women’s Ministries Cabinet Meets The WV Disciples Women’s Ministries Cabinet gathered at the Regional Center to tackle a full agenda of planning for the year.  Much is underway in the life of an ever-changing world of growing women’s ministries. Watch for the fruits of the labors of these dedicated servants of the church!

Christian Unity

from Disciples News Service
Week of Prayer for Christian Unity begins Jan. 18
This year’s theme for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is “Reconciliation: The Love of Christ Compels Us (cf. 2 Corinthians 5:14-20)” As we commemorate the 500th anniversary of the Lutheran Reformation this year, we once again celebrate together God’s love and grace, the “justification of humanity through grace alone.” It is time, however, for us to also recognize the pain of the subsequent deep divisions that exist among followers of Jesus. Please join us in praying for unity of all God’s church this January. The traditional period in the northern hemispheres for the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity is January 18-25. You can get more resources about this prayer week at www.councilonchristianunity.org
